for Charitable Groups (GAIN)
The GAIN program was launched in November 2003 to assist volunteers gain a better understanding of the responsibilities and requirements of a gaming licence and to be more accountable to their members and the community. To date, tens of thousands of volunteers have benefited from the program.
Volunteers of charitable organizations can access this information in the following formats:
GAIN Online Program
The GAIN program is available online at no cost. This gives volunteers convenient 24/7 access to the same valuable information on conducting charitable gaming activities in Alberta.
- The Combined session (3.5 - 4 hours) provides an overview of policies about conducting a gaming event and Use of Proceeds.
- The Use of Proceeds session (2 - 2.5 hours) focuses on key information about spending gaming revenue earned from casinos, bingos, raffles, and pull tickets.
- The Casino session (1.5 hours) is recommended for groups scheduled for a casino event in the next 12 months.
Sessions are free and are available year-round throughout the province. Sessions are posted quarterly. Please check for frequent updates.
