A Good Call - Industry Awareness Training
The mandatory industry awareness training program for bingo
staff – A Good Call – was developed jointly
in 2006-07 by the AGLC, the Alberta Alcohol and Drug Abuse Commission
and the bingo industry.
Recently, A Good Call was
prepared as an online training program (agoodcall.aglc.ca),
contained in the AGLC’s SMART Training Programs.
These programs are an important part of the government’s
commitment to responsibility in Alberta’s gaming industry. A
Good Call helps managers and staff understand the differences
between responsible and problem gambling, the myths associated
with gambling and how to provide information to players seeking
help.
The online version of A Good Call is available
at no charge
for registered bingo workers and takes about 30 minutes to complete.
The program includes video clips, written information,
exercises, and an examination.
A passing grade
of 80 per cent is required in order to receive a certificate
of program completion. For registered workers without Internet
access, A
Good Call is
available in a facilitated format.
All bingo staff are required to complete A Good Call training
and receive certification within three months of being hired.
