With the launch of its new responsible gambling information advertising campaign, the AGLC in partnership with Alberta Health Services AADAC is using a variety of media to educate Albertans about the need to gamble responsibly.
Running from October, 2008 to March, 2009, three 30-second radio
ads, three 15-second TV ads, washroom posters in VLT retailer
outlets, online advertising and CoolSign video ads in the AGLC’s casino and racing entertainment centres will be using commonly acknowledged myths of gambling to provide gamblers with useful information about how to keep gambling fun.
Whether it is the lady in the casino with her lucky cricket,
the man at the slot machine counting on quantum physics and
celestial events to guide his play, or the disproved theory
of ‘hot and cold machines’, the campaign takes a light and
innovative approach to providing information, prompting gamblers
to reflect on their own gambling behaviour and encouraging
gamblers to use the resources and information available to
help them stay in control of their gambling.
